Senior citizen’s quick guide to VA online cash

Usually, when people hear the word “assistant”, they think of some sort of college intern. This person is very young. This person doesn’t make much money. But they have all the enthusiasm in the world. Well, you may be a little bit older. But senior citizens actually make good money as virtual assistants.

You have to understand that as more and more businesses discover the power of the internet to connect with labor, a lot of them are outsourcing digital work. If you are putting up an online business, you probably would need to do research.

You can do this yourself or you can hire somebody to do it for you. If you don’t have the skills to do a task, you can hire somebody through the internet to perform all sorts of tasks for you. The best part to all of this is you don’t have to pay employment taxes, you don’t have to pay workers compensation, plus you don’t have to comply with all sorts of regulatory headaches in your particular state.

Please understand that in the United States, labor regulations vary from state to state. California, for example, has a very restrictive labor and employment code. Other states like Texas are more forgiving. But the good news is when you hire a virtual assistant, all that goes away because that person is your contractor.

They basically do a job for you and once the project is done, that’s the end of the relationship. Compare this with an employer-employee relationship. It can easily turn into headache. It is no surprise that a lot of seniors are hiring themselves out as virtual assistants.

How much money can you make?

Virtual assistants in the United States can make upwards of $50 per hour or more. It all depends on the tasks being assigned. Obviously, you’re not going to take tasks that are low skilled. You’re not going to take tasks that can be automated because if it can be automated, your perspective employer would not approach you in the first place.

They’d just download a piece of software, install a bot and be done with it. Instead, they’re looking for virtual assistants with a specialized body of expertise. In other words, they’re looking to rely on your life experience.

This is how older American VAs blow away the competition. You can not compete against younger virtual assistants by saying, “Well I can do research, I can look for stuff on Google and I can fill out forms.”

Well, let me tell you, everybody can do that. In fact, they don’t even have to be in the United States to do that. Somebody with a decent command of the English language, be they in the Philippines, India or Bangladesh, can do that.

The problem is if that’s the best you can offer, you’re going to have to work for peanuts. Some VAs charge very little money. We’re talking about less than $5 per hour. That is awesome in places like the Philippines and India, but completely unacceptable in the United States where monthly rents in certain areas are north of $5,000.

You have to offer highly specialized services.

Do a skills audit

What are you skilled in? Can you program? Can you code? Do you have a medical background? Do you have a legal background? What kind of specialized knowledge do you have? The more specialized you are, the more money you can command on an hourly basis. That’s the name of the game.

Every Senior Citizen Blogger’s 2 Step plan for blogging success

Step #1: Find the right niche

A niche is a subject matter category. For example, you can blog about coffee tables and that is a niche because people looking to buy coffee tables would go to your blog. If you want to blog about how to pick up chicks, that is a niche because people are interested in figuring out how to meet women.

A niche is really all about subject matter categories and within this subject matter category, there are many different sub-topics. So when you say you want to blog about coffee tables, everything that will be included in your blog will have something to do with coffee tables.

Maybe it’s about design, maybe it’s about how people can use a coffee table, so on and so fort. Now, just because you are interested in a topic doesn’t mean it’s going to make money. This is the central point that you need to master when trying to blog for cash.

You have to pick the right niche. How do you know? Well, first, you need to find something that you are personally interested in. Make no mistake, if you don’t have passion for something that you’re writing about, eventually, you will fall out of love and it will always be about the money.

Unfortunately, love for money can only take you so far. You have to have an emotional connection. There has to be passion there. So the first thing that you need to do is to list down all the topics that you are so passionate about that you would talk about them for absolutely free.

Next, filter your list of topics based on how much advertisers are going to pay for them. You can easily find how much advertisers are going to pay to advertise on content focused on those topics. You can easily find the commercial value of niches by using the Google adwords keyword planner tool.

Type in your topic and it will spit out some keywords. And when you look at the dollar value of those keywords, then you will get a rough idea of how much advertisers will pay per click of ads connected to those keywords.

Obviously, you should delete low value keywords and you should also delete very high value keywords. The reason why you should delete keywords that earn $50 per click is the traffic is filtered really well and there’s really not that much demand for those.

The high dollar value is definitely exciting, but let’s get real. You probably won’t make that much money from those topics unless you’re some hyper expert on them.

The next step is to filter your list based on average monthly search volume. In other words, there has to be enough demand for these topics. If you like underwater basket weaving, for example. It may be a strong personal passion of yours, but if only 2 people look for that information every month, you’re not going to make money from your blog. That’s the bottom line.

So, there has to be a healthy volume. Now, here’s the thing. You should cut out low volume key words, but you should also cut out very high volume keywords. Why? Chances are everybody in this dog are blogging about those popular topics and you’d have too much competition.

Finally, you should plug in your remaining keywords into Google’s search box. When you do this, Google will tell you how many websites target that keyword. This gives you an idea regarding the overall competition level of the potential topic for your blog. Once you’ve gone through this, you would have a good idea of which niche to focus on.

Step #2: Reverse engineer your competitors

I’ve got some great news for you. If you’re a senior citizen, you probably don’t have the time or patience to try to come up with something new or something revolutionary. You just want to make money. I get you. I understand where you’re coming from and that’s why I have a quick and easy solution for you.

Type in your keywords into Google to find high ranking sites in your niche. Once you find these websites, reverse engineer them. That’s right! There’s no need to reinvent the wheel. Just copy top players in your niche.

Figure out what they blog about, figure out their format, figure out how they make money off their blog. In other words, what kind of ads do they show? Once you have figured this out, copy the most common topics, format, layout and ad choices.

Step #3: Create your own brand

Once you have put up a website that reverse engineers existing content strategies without copying the actual content, the next step is to make your own brand stand out. You make money doing this by actually listening to your blog visitors.

Create surveys, conduct polls, actively ask them for feedback. Once they give you this information, you can then craft your blog so it has a unique identity. If you want to make real money blogging, click here for a comprehensive guide on how senior citizens can use the internet to make real money.

It’s not only possible, but it’s probable with the right plan and strategy.

Seniors’ quick guide to blogging for cash

If you’re a senior citizen, you might be thinking that blogging is a young person’s game. Of course, the typical stereotype of blogging involves some sort of millennial sipping coffee at Starbucks, typing out a blog post and checking all sorts of gadgets.

Well, you need to look past the stereotype to discover that a lot of older people who blog actually make money from their activities. The great thing about blogging is that it produces passive income. To get a clear understanding what passive income is, I want you to remember what it’s like to work for a living.

Typically, you would have to show up at a physical location, punch the clock and sit your butt down for 8 hours. It doesn’t matter whether you’re pushing paper around or you’re actually getting up to do physical things for work. Your time is locked in in particular space for 8 hours.

If you don’t do that, you don’t get paid. Welcome to the world of active income. It can simply be reduced to the simple formula of no work, no pay. It’s like you’re a chicken. If you don’t scratch and peck on the ground, you don’t eat.

It gets old quickly. Wouldn’t it be great for you to work once, but earn money many times over from the stuff that you worked on a long time ago? This is called passive income. Of course there are many different variations of passive income.

You can publish software, you can create an app, you can write a book or, if you want something lower impact and more in line with your experiences, you can blog for cash.

The secret to blogging success

It’s very tempting to just jump into blogging. I mean, after all, how hard can it be? There are all sorts of free blogging tools like medium.com, wordpress.com and blogger.com. You don’t have to spend money on a domain name, you don’t have to spend dollars on a hosting account. It’s absolutely free.

It is no surprise, however, that given the low barrier to entry, most bloggers fail. I don’t say that to depress you. I definitely don’t share that to discourage you. But this is a reality check. If you don’t know what you’re doing, don’t start.

What follows is a quick guide on how to do it right. The reason why people fail at blogging is because they just blog about anything that they’re interested in. On a personal level, this is fine. But the problem is your blog is not a personal diary.

You’re trying to make money from your blog. You’re trying to turn your time into dollars. If you want to do that, then you have to have a plan.

As the old saying goes, if you fail to plan, you are really planning to fail. Given the ridiculously high 90 percent failure rate of most blogs (whether they launched 10 minutes ago or 10 years ago), you really have to have a plan coming in. The good news is that your plan only needs to have 3 parts: niche selection, monetization plan, and content strategy. By thinking strategically and knowing these key planning elements ahead of time, you pave the way for your eventual success.

Guilt is a Choice

The human memory is actually very faulty

Too many of us like to think that we are simply prisoners of our past. Too many people are under the impression that if you screwed up in the past, there’s really no way you can make things right.

If you made all sorts of bad decisions and you unleashed all sorts of negative consequences, you are basically forever tainted by your past.

In fact, people take things so far as to say that you are your past. You can never really escape it. You can make the pain go away, you can play all sorts of games with yourself, but ultimately, when it comes down to it, you are your past.

It’s a done deal. It already happened. What can you do now? There’s nothing you can do short of getting into some sort of time machine, like the movie “Back to the Future.” But other than that, you are stuck.

Talk about depressing

Talk about demotivating. Talk about soul-crushing.

This is the kind of mindset a lot of people have about their past, and that’s why the only thing that they have available to them, or the only thing that they make available to themselves is guilt.

They’re constantly tripping over themselves, apologizing for things in the past or, worse yet, they’d remember certain things that happened.

Maybe they got pregnant as a teenager. Maybe they committed a crime. Maybe they hit somebody that unleashed a tremendous tidal wave of negative effects. Maybe they pissed somebody off.

Whatever the case may be, they keep going back to those negative experiences and ending up no closer to any kind of closure or resolution.

It’s like stabbing yourself in the hand over and over again, and then seeing your hand heal slightly overnight, and then repeating it day after day. You end up with a whole lot of blood, and not much else.

I know that sounds crazy if you were to do that physically, but unfortunately, people do this psychologically each and every day.

Guilt is an interpretation

You have to understand that as powerful as the guilt that you may feel, it is still a choice.

When you look at what happened in the past, and assuming that the past actually happened according to how you remember it, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to end up with the same interpretation you currently have.

If you feel disempowered, depressed, discouraged or diminished by your guilty and remorseful interpretation, take hope from the fact that this is just an interpretation. There are many ways to see the same set of facts.

Believe it or not, there is a way of looking at what happened in such a way that it doesn’t drag you down and make you feel small, weak or ugly. This is called changing your mindset.

Please understand that your mindset is like the lens or the eyeglasses that you use to view reality. Depending on the lenses you put on, you will see reality differently.

When you see reality differently, you feel different things about reality. These go hand in hand.

But the good news is, you have a lot more choice over the matter than you give yourself credit for.

Do yourself a very big favor and look at the possible interpretations that you have and look at the beliefs systems that they lead to. By making the right strategic choices, you end up in a better place.

You Must Love Yourself More Effectively First Before You Love Somebody

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings here, but you can only give what you have. I want you to wrap your mind around that central concept.

A lot of people have a tough time doing so and that’s why they continue to suffer. If they feel stuck in any area of their life, it really all boils down to a lack of self-love.

Too many of us think that just by being born and just by showing up at the scene, that somehow, some way, we deserve people’s love and respect. Boy, are we in for a great disappointment.

You have to understand that love is already in short supply in this world. Can you imagine expecting other people to drop what they’re doing so they can give you the love and respect you think you deserve?

It doesn’t work that way. It hasn’t worked that way in the past, it doesn’t work that way now, and it probably won’t ever work in the future.

You can only give what you have

And if you have a tough time loving yourself, accepting yourself, or giving yourself the proper respect, don’t expect this to come from somebody else. Don’t expect to do this for somebody else.

This whole idea that you just have to wait for the right person so they can complete you and otherwise give you what you’re missing is a fantasy. In most cases, the person that comes along is the person who exploits you.

That’s right, this is the person who abuses your weaknesses. And instead of making you feel whole, complete and healed, they actually take advantage of you.

Either this person takes the form of a domineering mother, an emotionally absent father, or an abusive boyfriend or girlfriend, it doesn’t matter. That person will continue to come again and again and again because you refused to give something to yourself that you should have taken care of a long time ago.

Self-respect is not something that somebody gives you.

Self-esteem is not something that comes outside of you. It is your own estimation of your value as a person. It is something that you yourself have to give yourself.

This is why it’s always a good thing to get the idea of loving other people out of your head. Focus on what’s important first. Focus on loving yourself first.

This means getting to the root of your anxiety. This means changing your mindset. This means changing your belief system about who you are, where you’re going, what you’re capable of, what your limits are – the whole nine yards.

People don’t like to do this heavy lifting. Instead, they imagine themselves, whether they’re guys or female, it doesn’t matter, to be some sort of damsel in distress.

There they are, locked in a high tower wearing their gown and looking out into the horizon for that knight in shining armor who will come to their emotional rescue at the last minute.

This is the root of anxiety

I’m sorry, we don’t live in a fantasy land. You have to do the heavy lifting. You have to slay your internal demons. You have to overcome your dragons from the past, and only after that will you be free.

And the good news is that overcoming this dragon is easier than you think.

Now, a lot of people would give you grief for thinking that overcoming anxiety is easy. They think that it’s deeply rooted.

A lot of people would likely believe that you are, somehow, genetically predisposed to it. And no matter how hard you try and no matter when you try, it’s just not going to happen.

Well, I’m telling you, the people who tried to convince you of that are actually making money from that belief system.

Because when you believe that your anxiety is somehow locked in your genes and there’s really no amount of trying or self-awareness that will free you from that mental prison, you are left with one option. That option, of course, is medication.

The psycho-pharmaceutical industry in the United States and elsewhere is a multibillion-dollar industry. Year after year, pharmaceutical companies are raking in billions of dollars and their profit margins continue to grow. But this is blood money.

This is money based on hopelessness. This is money squeezed out of the guilt, the pain, and the despair of millions of people.

The good news is that there is a 100% chemical free way to get out of the clutches of anxiety. Click here for this all-natural, self-empowered, positive approach to anxiety. You owe it to yourself.

To Become a More Successful Person, You Must Choose to Become a More Effective Person

A lot of people, in the United States in particular, have grown up in the self-esteem age. According to this theory of child rearing, when kids are given a healthy self-esteem, they become more successful. It’s as if self-confidence comes out fully grown from a healthy self-esteem.

So, what do we do? We give people participation prizes. We tell our kids, “It doesn’t really matter whether you win or lose, it just matters that you tried.”

Well, I’m sorry to break this to you, but trying is not good enough. Not by a long shot.

The world rewarded excellence in the past, it continues to reward excellence now, and will probably continue to do so long into the future. That’s just the way the world works.

We are doing our children and ourselves a big disservice by feeding them this lie that by simply showing up, somehow, some way, they deserve some sort of respect or even an award.

It’s madness

…. because that’s not how reality works. Respect is not a door prize. It’s not something that you just show up for. It’s not some free cookie that people toss your way just because you managed to show up.

You have to earn it. And you have to earn it through excellence.

In other words, the world doesn’t care about your intentions or your motivations. It couldn’t care less about what you could have done, should have done, or would have done. None of that matters. What matters to the world are the results that you produce.

It’s all about the results that you bring to the table. That’s when the world sits up and pays attention. That’s when the real rewards are handed out.

Sure, a lot of people will try to “give you respect,” but this is lip service. You know and I know how far lip service goes. If you’re looking for the real thing, then you need to focus on becoming an excellent person.

Be good at something

Be better than good. This means believing in excellence. You have to believe that if you’re going to do something, you need to be the best at it.

If you think about it hard enough, simply doing the bare minimum just to get by is not going to cut it because there will be a trend for people to push for something better. And what happens when that takes place? That’s right, you will be left behind.

It’s as if this curve consistently moves to the right while you dig in your heels and expect the very least from yourself. You stand out like a sore thumb. Your mediocrity is exposed for all the world to see.

Make no mistake

In order to become a more successful person, you must first choose to become a more effective person. This means that you have to know what you’re doing. This means that you have to deliver on results. This means that you have to meet a certain level of expectations.

Now, this doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to hit the ball out of the park each and every time you swing that bat. But without a renewed focus on effectiveness, you’re going to get left behind. That’s how the world works.

Sadly, too many people expect to do the bare minimum. They don’t even want to try, and they complain why life is so unfair. They complain about the crappy results that they’re getting, but maybe it’s because of the crappy efforts they’re putting in.

I know that this sounds harsh. In fact, to a lot of people, it might even sound judgmental, but it is what it is. This is how the world works.

If you are suffering from any kind of anxiety because you feel stuck in your career or you are wondering about the low quality of your relationships, wrap your mind around what I have just said. Maybe you haven’t resolved to be the most effective person you could be.

The good news is that reversing the course of your life is not as hard as you think. It’s actually easier than you care to appreciate.

If you want a clear, easy to understand framework in which you can turn your life around based on your belief system, click here.

When You Blame Others, You Give Them Power Over Your Life

Let’s get one thing clear. It’s very easy to blame other people or situations for the things that have gone wrong in your life. It really is.

Because if you think about it, when you blame other people or situations you can’t control, it feels good. How come? Well, first of all, it means you don’t have to change.

This means that there’s nothing wrong with you and there’s nothing to apologize for. It’s somebody else’s fault.

When you put the blame squarely on other people, the responsibility for changing lies with them. You are the victim here. You are the one who was harmed.

You were the one who has to live with the effects of the harm caused by others on you. Why should you change? Why should you sacrifice? Why should you put in the time, effort and energy to turn things around?

Refusal of responsibility

This is very liberating to a lot of people because, hey, let’s face it, change is a very scary thing for a lot of people. First of all, it takes a lot of effort. It also takes a lot of self-awareness.

Well, think about it. If you are going to be self-aware, this means that you’re probably going to discover a lot of things about yourself that you might not be all that happy with. Who knows what you will knock loose? Who knows what you would uncover?

There are many psychological rocks out there that you have put on lockdown. What kind of horrors do they contain?

You dispense with all of that when you put the blame for whatever is wrong is your life squarely on the shoulders of your parents, the bully in school, the friends who misunderstood you, the ex that broke your heart, and so on and so forth.

In fact, if you are a typical person, chances are, the laundry list of people who somehow, some way, share the blame for whatever has gone wrong with everything in your life is actually quite long.

I know that it feels good to do this, but it’s also the most damaging thing you could do to yourself. How come? Well, when you blame other people, you’re basically saying to yourself that since they caused the problems in your life, they’re the ones who can fix it, not you.

You don’t have to change

In fact, the reason why you feel so good about blaming others is because of the fact that you don’t have to change. You don’t have to solve things. You don’t have to take ownership of what’s gone wrong. You dispense with all of that because the problem is the other guy. It’s his problem, not yours.

But here’s where things get rough. The more you blame others beyond your control, the more you give them power over your life. It’s as if you are consigning or resigning yourself to living your life on autopilot. You’re stuck.

The reason you’re reading this is because you have anxiety issues. The reason you’re reading this in the first place is because you want to get out from under the negative effects of the anxiety in your life.

Unfortunately, when you blame that anxiety on other people and situations you can’t control, you’ve given them power because, ultimately, on a purely logical basis, they have the solution. They caused the problem, so they have the solution.

The problem is, they are not in any compulsion or responsibility to solve your life. They’ve moved on. They’ve got problems of their own.

You are stuck

You’re hanging on to the cold comfort that somehow, some way, everything that’s wrong with your life is somebody else’s fault.

Even if that were true, it’s still your responsibility to yourself to take ownership of your problems and take steps to solve them.

I know this is a nasty news flash, but nobody’s going to take those steps for you. Nobody can be bothered. How come? Everybody’s got problems of their own as it is.

You have to step up. You have to take the initiative.

To figure out how to do this is a quick, effective and powerful way, click here. Regain control of your life by refusing to blame others.

While the problems in your life may not have been directly caused by you, you are still responsible for how you respond to the chain reaction that other people have started in your life. That responsibility will never leave you. That is yours and yours alone.

Most People Refuse to Acknowledge Their Anxieties

Hey, let’s face it, we all like to put up a face around people we care about or respect. At the very least, we have some sort of public face that we try to maintain.

What is this public face? Well, we want people to think that we’re strong. We want to give people the impression that we have our acts together. We don’t want them to see our weaknesses.

We really are often embarrassed by a public display of shortcomings or other features that we think will make us look bad. This is why we put up with appearances.

We know, deep down inside that, most of the time, we can’t trust appearances. People who seem to have the perfect families, the perfect careers, or the perfect lives are actually going through a tough time. But, since we maintain this public face, most people are simply left with the surface impression that everything is going well.

Here’s the thing

You can get so caught up in the public appearance that you’re putting up that you end up playing seriously damaging games with yourself. One of the worst things that you can do is to be in denial about your anxieties.

Now, let’s get one thing clear. Everybody’s got anxieties. We all have fears about the past. We have regrets, guilt and other negative emotions about things that have happened in the past.

We also have issues about the future. Sure, these things have not yet happened, but despite that fact, we can’t help but worry about them.

We would like to gain some measure of control over our lives. And sadly, too many of us try to do this by simply trying to worry ourselves into some semblance of control.

Well, just as we can’t control what happened in the past, we can’t control the things that have yet to happen. And that’s why, unfortunately, a lot of people struggle with anxiety. It can easily get out of hand.

While it’s almost normal to assume that a certain level of worry is fine, it’s very easy to overstep our bounds. It’s really hard to find that thin line between “healthy worries” and obsessive anxieties that wear us down and pollute our relationships.

Given this background, it is no surprise that a lot of people refuse to acknowledge their anxieties. As far as the world is concerned, they’re living perfect lives or something close to it. That’s the public appearance they want to give.

And before you know it

… they start believing their own press. They start believing the image that they portray to the rest of the world and that’s why they are terribly surprised when they figure out that they have these anxieties that are eating them from within. Are you one of these people?

Well, the good news is that there is a solution to anxiety that doesn’t involve brain altering chemicals. There is an all-natural solution that doesn’t involve expensive psychotherapy counselling. I am, of course, talking about changing your belief system.

The best part to all of this is that you yourself trigger the changes. By simply working with how you currently process reality, you can get out from under the crushing weight of anxiety.

To figure out how to do this, click here.

To Achieve Greatness, You must First Overcome Yourself

Overcoming Anxiety
Overcoming Anxiety

Believe it or not there is this one person out there in the universe that is your number one hurdle to success. This person almost always gets in the way. This person is not obvious but, eventually, he or she will undermine or even flat-out sabotage you if you’re not careful.

No, this person is not one of your parents. This person is not the schoolyard bully. This person is not in your circle of friends, or even a known enemy of yours. Give up yet? This person spells his or her name this way: Y-O-U.

You have to understand that to achieve any kind of greatness or to even change, you have to first overcome yourself. If you don’t understand this, then you have a serious problem in your hands because, you see, people are creatures of habit. When we’re used to a certain pattern, we don’t want to change. We think that we can milk that pattern for all its worth.

We fear change

We fear change because it means that we are going to have to confront the way that we look at things. This means that we’re going to have to put in effort. This means that we are going to change our emotional attachment to the things that we’ve already grown accustomed to. In other words, we don’t like moving around mental and emotional furniture so we’d rather stay put.

This is all too understandable and that’s why a lot of people struggle. This is why a lot of people live far below their fullest potential. They’d rather stick to the devil they know than go and roll the dice with the devil they don’t know.

However, here’s the thing. If you want to achieve greatness in your life and if you will really want to feel that you have done something worthwhile with your life, you must first overcome this tendency to stick to the status quo and boy, do you have this tendency!

Believe it or not

…most people would rather stay with the most horrific relationships, the most messed-up self-image, or the most unrewarding and so-draining jobs than go out on a limb. They’d rather stick to hell rather than take a gamble on possibly getting a piece of heaven.

I know this sounds crazy. It seems counterintuitive. After all, you’re feeling stuck. You know how miserable you are. You know that you’re not really living up to your fullest potential. You know that, up to some degree, you are living in a personal hell, if not a personal purgatory.

However, for the life of you, you have a tough time overcoming that and simply choosing to do things differently. At the very least, you don’t want to change the way you look at things because it might lead to scary things.

Overcoming yourself

This is really the crux of the matter. Overcoming yourself means discovering yourself.

There might be certain things that you might find out that will sit well with you. There may be uncomfortable truths. They may reveal certain biases or mindsets that you have that you’re embarrassed about. They might even point you towards a childhood trauma or negative belief systems that you’ve simply swept under the rug for all these years. Whatever form it takes, we just don’t want to be bothered with the heavy emotional and mental lifting required.

The good news is by starting out fresh, we recycle a lot of the stuck energy that has been frozen and all the guilt, remorse, and other negative coping mechanisms that we have built up over the years. This is frozen mental and emotional energy and when you destroy that mental house to start new again to build your life on assumptions and belief systems that you yourself consciously chose, you are actually unlocking a tremendous amount of power. This is how you achieve greatness. This is how you build a life worth living for yourself.

Your Attitude Counts More than Your Aptitude

Overcoming Anxiety
Overcoming Anxiety

A lot of people have tricked themselves into thinking that for them to make any kind of fundamental positive change in their lives, they have to learn certain things. For example, if you are struggling with finances and you don’t have a college degree, it’s very easy for you to say to yourself, “Well, the only way I can really get a leg up in my career is to get that four-year degree. Since I’m too old and I already have kids or you have a long laundry list of other reasons, you just basically say to yourself, “Well, I’m screwed. That’s not an option. The college degree is unattainable so here I am, I’m stuck forever.”

What you’re looking at is not reality. It’s your take on reality. Believe it or not, there is a difference. Your analysis of reality is not reality itself. Your analysis of reality really is just a reflection of your attitude.

If you think that aptitude is the way forward to all of life, you’re wrong. In most cases, employers are more likely to take chances on people with the right attitude than the ones with all the qualifications. These people may seem perfect on paper but if their attitude is wrong, then it’s like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. I’m sure it’s possible after enough pushing but it’s not all that efficient. It may also be planting the seeds for future destruction. Most people would simply not do it.

This is why it really boils down to attitude. If you have the right attitude, don’t worry about not having the technical know-how. That will come. You will find a way. The key is do you believe in yourself enough to want to find the way?

If you think that everything has been closed off to you and you are essentially just a very limited person because other people have it in for you and are conspiring against you, I believe me, it doesn’t really matter what your aptitude is. You might even be the smartest person in the room but if you have that attitude of persecution and you feel that possibilities are always closed off, you will always remain stuck.

You will make things happen

On the other hand, if you know that you don’t know certain things but you have the right attitude, you will make things happen. Maybe you would take night classes. Perhaps you would take online classes. Possibly, you would partner up with another person to get into some sort of semi-formal or informal apprenticeship. There are many ways to skin a cat, sort of. It all boils down to your willingness to even try.

The problem with rigid or negative attitudes is that you basically end up robbing yourself of possibilities. You basically tell yourself, well, there’s only one way to achieve a certain outcome. Since that path is somehow some way off-limits to me, then this means I have no hope.” Who told you that’s the only way forward?

When you look at the careers of a lot of successful people on the planet, it turns out that a lot of them started out as janitors. A lot of them were illiterate. A lot of them were poor. A lot of them were immigrants with not even a penny to their name.

Attitude counts more than aptitude. If you allow yourself to believe that you can achieve, then anxiety and constantly feeling that the best things in life have already been taken or that there all these barriers arrayed against you, things become wide open. You start seeing the possibilities. The opportunities become manifested and, before you know it, the way forward presents itself. You find yourself at the right place with the right people at the right time doing the right things.
